Date: 05-Feb-2024
Nepal Development Research Institute (NDRI) and Tribhuvan University (TU), in collaboration with the Asia-Pacific Network for Global Change Research (APN), are organizing a four-day capacity-building workshop on climate risk assessment (CRA) for national and regional water resource practitioners as a part of the project “Building capacities for climate resilient water resources development under climate uncertainty.”
Date: 05 – 08 February 2024
Venue: Square Hotel, Pulchowk, Lalitpur, Nepal
About the workshop:
Climate Risk Assessment (CRA) is integral to sustainable and climate-resilient water resources (WR) development. In the projected warmer and wetter future with an increase in climatic extremes and other uncertainties, risk-based bottom-up CRA approach is needed, where stress tests under various climate conditions that lead to high impact vulnerabilities or hazards are carried out. This will provide a basis for the design of climate resilient WR infrastructures. This workshop is about facilitating and building capacity in the process of CRA for water resources practitioners. This 4-day workshop aims to build the capacity of WR practitioners (national and regional) on conducting CRA, using an upgraded tool, “WEather generator and Climate Change Scenario Generator” (termed as WECCSGen here-after) (developed by Nepal Development Research Institute: NDRI) with climate downscaling capabilities; into their professional practices. The overall expected outcome is improved capacity and preparedness for climate resilient WR development, while direct outputs will be the tool, knowledge products, and enhanced skills of WR practitioners, along with raised awareness on the subject.
